While practicing good netiquette, it is also wise to practice good internet safety. Whether you post on social media, write a blog post, or upload a video, there are four major components to staying safe on the internet.

(1) The internet is forever - Anything you put on the internet will be there for a very long time...

(2) Don't put your personal information online - Your personal information shouldn't be visible to everybody

(3) Don't forget about phone safety - Do not accept phone calls or texts from strange numbers

(4) Handle hacking intelligently - If you are hacked, change your password, check your sent box, and clean off your hard drive

Cyberbullying is NOT a practice of good netiquette. An easy way to check yourself is to THINK before you post.
